Green Star Polyp Rock

Green Star Polyp Rock creates a growing mat of waving polyps over its supporting rock. This is a vigorous encrusting soft coral, so positioning the rock as an island can help keep it from spreading through the main reef structure and covering slower neighbours.

It adapts to a broad range of reef lighting after acclimation. Moderate to strong circulation is particularly useful because the mat can trap detritus and become overgrown by algae in stagnant conditions. Keep water moving across the surface without allowing the rock to shift.

Photosynthesis supplies much of its nutrition, with tiny suspended particles potentially adding to its diet. Routine large target feedings are unnecessary. Inspect the colony's perimeter during maintenance and preserve a gap to other rocks, coral bases and aquarium surfaces you do not want it to colonise.
