Green Serpent Star

The Green Serpent Star is a strong-armed nocturnal forager that spends much of the day beneath rockwork. The large green brittle-star type commonly sold under this name can become a substantial animal with a reach far beyond its central disc.

Provide spacious retreats and offer marine meaty foods near its shelter. Scavenging can contribute to its diet, but planned feeding helps ensure it receives food in a well-maintained aquarium. Allow clear routes around the rockwork instead of tightly packing every crevice.

Small fish and shrimps may be eaten, so this is a poor default choice for a nano-fish community or a collection of delicate crustaceans. Avoid fish that attack sea stars in turn. Keep salinity stable and handle the arms carefully; a green color alone should never be taken as evidence of harmless cleanup behavior.
