Green/Blue Chromis

Green/Blue Chromis bring midwater activity to a marine display, but a successful group needs both swimming room and places to retreat. Build rockwork with numerous sheltered gaps below the open water, and provide water movement that carries food through the area where the fish gather.

Offer small marine meaty foods and suitable prepared foods in several portions through the day. Watch the whole group during feeding rather than judging success by the boldest fish. Large predators and aggressive companions are poor choices for these comparatively peaceful chromis.

The blue-green trade name includes closely similar Chromis species with shared basic care. Colour alone does not establish the species, and a group is not guaranteed to maintain a tight school in an aquarium. Base the number purchased on swimming space, filtration and access to shelter, and monitor any fish that becomes isolated or loses condition.
