Grape Caulerpa

Grape Caulerpa is a green macroalgae with rounded, bead-like growth along branching runners. It can add a recognizable texture to a refugium or marine planted display, but its spreading growth needs regular attention.

Provide adequate aquarium lighting and circulation, then guide the runners where you want them to establish. They can anchor among sand, rubble, or rock, making later removal harder if allowed to spread through a complex aquascape. Keep the crop accessible for inspection and harvesting.

Remove excess growth to export absorbed nutrients and preserve open water paths. Watch for pale or deteriorating sections and changes in the crop's condition rather than treating it as maintenance-free filtration. Capture loose fragments during trimming and dispose of unwanted material responsibly; a small discarded piece can remain viable.
