Gold Maxima Clam

The Gold Maxima Clam offers warm mantle coloration and the sculptured shell characteristic of Tridacna maxima. Its appearance is most engaging when the mantle is fully extended under appropriate reef lighting, with room around it for continued growth.

Provide a secure rock or clam support in a mature, chemically stable aquarium. Acclimate the clam to its lighting position and avoid a direct jet of water that causes the mantle to flap. Photosynthesis is fundamental to its nutrition; supplemental feeding cannot make an inadequately lit location suitable.

Check calcium and alkalinity as the shell grows. Inspect for tissue-nipping tankmates and small parasitic snails around the shell and attachment area. Handle the support when moving an attached animal, and never tear the foot free. Individual gold patterns naturally differ.
