Giraffe Serpent Star

The Giraffe Serpent Star carries a reticulated pattern across its central disc and long, flexible arms. Much of its activity takes place around sheltered rockwork, so the most rewarding view may be a patterned arm reaching from a crevice during feeding time.

Arrange caves and shaded gaps above a sandy bottom, with room to move between shelters. Giraffe forms can be sensitive when first introduced; match water conditions carefully and maintain stable salinity. Handle the animal by supporting its body rather than lifting or pulling on an arm.

Offer small portions of meaty frozen food or sinking marine pellets close to its shelter. Confirm that the arms collect food before other animals take it, rather than relying only on leftovers. Avoid assuming every serpent star is harmless to every fish: slow or vulnerable tankmates deserve particular caution around these opportunistic feeders.
