Friecracker Zoa Frag

This zoanthid frag is listed as Friecracker and grows through a colony of tentacled polyps on a spreading mat. Choose a defined patch of rock where the colony has space to develop and remains easy to inspect for sediment, encroaching algae or contact with another coral.

Start in lower light while it settles, then adjust gradually if needed. Circulation should lift debris from between the polyps without detaching the frag. Zoanthids depend heavily on photosynthesis, although tiny marine food particles may be captured; offer modest amounts and judge actual response rather than assuming every polyp will feed.

Wear gloves and eye protection for handling. Potential palytoxin in zoanthid tissue makes boiling rock, rough scrubbing and spraying damaged tissue unsafe. Keep maintenance methods gentle and prevent splashes reaching the face.
