Fire and Ice Zoa Frag

Fire and Ice is a zoanthid frag that grows as a group of individual polyps joined across a hard surface. It works well on a small, separate rock where the developing colony can be viewed closely and kept clear of slower-growing coral frags.

Choose moderate, indirect flow to remove settled particles, and acclimate the frag to your lighting from a less intense starting position. Zoanthids can adapt to different light levels, but abrupt increases can damage them. They rely substantially on photosynthesis; very fine marine foods may be offered sparingly if the polyps respond.

Keep handling gentle and use gloves and eye protection. Some zoanthids contain palytoxin, so avoid crushing the mat or producing splashes from damaged tissue. Never use boiling water or heat to remove a zoanthid colony from rock.
