Ember Blenny

The ember blenny, Cirripectes stigmaticus, has a textured pattern of spots and lines with variable reddish accents. It spends much of its time close to the reef, perching and browsing rather than continuously swimming through open water.

Provide mature rockwork with secure resting holes and a good range of grazing surfaces. Supplement natural browsing with algae-based marine foods and suitable small meaty items. Watch the fish maintain condition; a clean-looking aquarium or visible grazing does not establish that its nutritional needs are being met.

Choose peaceful companions that allow it to use the rockwork without repeated harassment. Observe interactions with other bottom-oriented fish and valuable attached invertebrates. A securely fitted cover is also worthwhile for a blenny that may jump when startled or chased.
