The Durban Dancing Shrimp, also called a camel or hinge-beak shrimp, has a raised, movable rostrum and a patterned red-and-white body. It often gathers in shaded rock crevices or beneath overhangs, where its outline blends into the surrounding rubble.

Build in several sheltered retreats, especially for molting. Offer small marine frozen foods, plankton-based foods, or suitable prepared foods that settle within reach. Its scavenging habits can be interesting to observe, but every shrimp still needs a reliable share of the food.

This is a cautious choice for a mixed reef. Durban dancing shrimp may nip at soft corals, mushrooms, and colonial anemones, so do not confuse them with peppermint shrimp sold for different purposes. Evaluate the coral collection and arrange an alternative home before introducing one.
