Dragons Tongue Macro Algae

Dragon's Tongue Macro Algae is valued for red, branching fronds with a flame-like outline. It can provide a colorful planted feature in the display or a contrasting growth form within a mixed refugium.

Allow water to pass through and around the fronds so they do not become a resting place for detritus. Dragon's tongue types appreciate good circulation and a consistent light schedule. They can be kept free within a protected area or positioned among suitable rock supports without crushing the soft growth.

Maintain available nutrients and watch for grazing by herbivores. Growth removes nutrients from the water, but regular harvesting is necessary to export that material from the aquarium. Treat this as an ornamental macroalga that benefits from attentive care, rather than a guaranteed fast-growing substitute for other filtration.
