Crossi Damsel

Crossi damsel, Neoglyphidodon crossi, is known for a colourful juvenile stage that becomes more subdued with maturity. Its orange-red and blue juvenile accents accompany a fish whose adult territorial behaviour deserves advance planning.

Provide an established marine aquarium with substantial rock shelters and room for other fish to avoid its territory. Offer balanced omnivore foods, including small meaty items and algae-based preparations. Separate feeding areas can help residents obtain food without constantly meeting at the damsel's refuge.

This species is a poor match for a community built around timid fish. It can become strongly assertive, and soft corals may be sampled. Keep the adult's needs in mind when selecting companions and avoid assuming that a small, brightly coloured purchase will stay equally unobtrusive as it grows.
