Crimson Porcelain Crab

Crimson Porcelain Crab is best appreciated as a small particle-feeding crustacean. Porcelain crabs use fanlike mouthparts to gather food, while their prominent claws serve mainly in defence. Give the crab accessible rock shelter with water moving past its feeding position.

Supply appropriately fine planktonic foods, such as rotifers or other small suspended preparations, and watch for the feeding fans collecting particles. A clean aquarium may provide too little natural food even when the crab stays busy filtering. Small, controlled feedings help support it without allowing uneaten material to accumulate.

Avoid fish that prey on crabs and larger aggressive crustaceans. Porcelain crabs differ in their association with anemones and other hosts; choose any host arrangement for the actual animal rather than its crimson colour. Allow undisturbed cover during moulting.
