Blue Spotted Wrasse

The blue spotted wrasse, Anampses caeruleopunctatus, is a tamarin wrasse with intricate markings that change with sex and maturity. Its beauty comes with demanding acclimation and feeding needs, making it a considered choice for an experienced marine aquarist.

A mature aquarium should include a suitable deep sand bed for burying, established rockwork and enough unobstructed room to swim. Offer varied small marine meaty foods and verify the individual's feeding response. Some arrivals need appropriate live foods before accepting a sustainable prepared diet.

Keep it with peaceful fish that will not continually disturb its shelter or dominate feeding. Its hunt for small invertebrates also matters when planning reef companions. Cover the tank securely and avoid disturbing the sand when the wrasse has buried itself to rest.
