Blue Lyretail Dartfish

The blue lyretail dartfish, Ptereleotris hanae, is a slender, pale blue fish with an elongated tail. It spends time in the water above its retreat and benefits from a quiet community that lets it move between feeding areas and shelter confidently.

Use rock crevices and suitable sand to create secure resting places while preserving open swimming space. Offer small marine meaty foods where the dartfish can intercept them. If it remains hidden during meals, assess competition and confirm that it is feeding rather than simply increasing the amount of food added.

Avoid boisterous fish that repeatedly drive it into cover. A tightly fitted lid is a key part of the setup because dartfish can leap when disturbed. Its graceful appearance does not remove the need for careful introductions and an established marine system.
