Blue Hypnea Macro Algae (Clipping) 1"

Blue Hypnea is an ornamental macroalgae valued for its branching texture and blue-to-violet iridescence. Although classed with red algae, its appearance under aquarium lighting can provide a strong contrast against green macros and pale rockwork.

Offer moderate to bright, full-spectrum light and steady, moderate water movement. The branches can develop into dense mats or loosely attached clumps, so give the clipping a position where it receives light without trapping excessive debris. Acclimate it to the intended lighting rather than exposing a new piece to an abrupt intensity change.

This is generally a slower-growing display choice than common nutrient-export macros such as Chaetomorpha. It still needs dissolved nutrients to grow. Protect decorative growth from large herbivores and monitor the whole clump, since shaded or deteriorating inner sections can be easy to miss.
