Blue Devil Damselfish

Blue Devil Damselfish need careful consideration of temperament before they join a community aquarium. Their compact appearance does not make them a gentle companion for timid fish. Provide established rockwork with multiple retreats and enough space for other inhabitants to move away from a defended area.

Offer both marine meaty foods and algae-based preparations, including foods containing Spirulina. Feed portions the fish can consume and check that less assertive tankmates still reach their meals. These damselfish may also investigate small crustaceans around the rockwork.

Watch introductions closely for repeated chasing, exclusion from shelter or a neighbour that stops feeding. Adding several blue devils does not guarantee a peaceful group. The name is used for more than one Chrysiptera species, so confirm the current fish before making assumptions about its eventual pattern, sex or compatibility with another damselfish.
