Blue Death is a zoanthid frag for building a colony of closely packed, tentacled polyps. This trade name is also used for Palythoa, so its handling precautions matter as much as its appearance. Give the colony a separate patch of rock with space to spread without covering slower neighbours.

Begin in low to moderate light and provide indirect circulation that carries waste away from the polyp mat. Increase exposure gradually after it settles. Photosynthesis supplies much of its energy; small suspended coral foods can supplement that nutrition if the polyps capture them.

Treat the colony as potentially containing palytoxin. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling it, avoid crushing or scrubbing the tissue, and never boil or heat rock bearing zoanthids. Keep splashes and coral particles away from your face.
