Blue Coral Banded Shrimp

The Blue Coral Banded Shrimp combines a blue body with contrasting bands on its limbs and abdomen. Its long antennae and raised claws give it a distinctive boxing-shrimp posture, especially when it emerges from sheltered rockwork.

Provide crevices where it can retreat and molt undisturbed. In smaller aquariums, keeping one avoids crowding with its own kind. Allow clear space around the shelter so delicate antennae are not constantly in contact with neighboring animals or moving equipment.

Feed suitably sized marine meaty foods, such as thawed mysis or finely chopped seafood, rather than expecting fish-cleaning behavior to supply every meal. Acclimate it carefully to the aquarium's salinity and maintain stable water quality. Copper-based medications are incompatible with this shrimp, and predatory tankmates can threaten it despite its prominent claws.
