Blow Pop Zoa Frag

Blow Pop Zoa Frag is a spreading zoanthid colony starter. Its polyps open above a mat that can bridge onto adjoining rock, making a removable mounting island useful if you want to control its eventual footprint in a mixed reef.

Clean circulation is especially helpful for this coral: sediment trapped among the polyps can interfere with extension and growth. Use indirect movement that clears debris without lifting a newly mounted frag. Introduce brighter light gradually. Photosynthesis supplies most routine energy, and fine suspended foods can be tried in small amounts rather than placing large food pieces on the colony.

Treat the tissue as potentially containing palytoxin. Gloves and eye protection help during maintenance; avoid cutting or scrubbing in a way that creates airborne droplets. Colony-bearing rock must never be boiled or heated.
