Black Sea Cucumber

The Black Sea Cucumber moves across the substrate feeding on the organic material associated with sand. Its dark, elongated body may carry grains of sand as it works through an established marine habitat.

Provide a large, mature feeding area with suitable sandy substrate. A bare-bottom aquarium or freshly installed sand offers little of the natural food on which this deposit feeder depends. Its activity can process sediment, but the animal still needs enough food to maintain its own condition over time.

Choose peaceful tankmates and protect pump intakes and overflows. Serious injury or stress can trigger defensive releases harmful to other inhabitants, making equipment protection and careful handling essential. Keep salinity stable, avoid copper treatments, and treat this as specialist livestock rather than a routine addition for cleaning sand.
