Big Eyed Squirrelfish need a display with shaded caves and overhangs, where they can rest away from intense daytime light. Their large eyes suit a low-light routine, so an aquarium offering only brightly exposed rock faces leaves little useful refuge. Keep swimming access open around the sheltered areas.

Offer a varied marine meaty diet in appropriately sized pieces. Feeding when the aquarium lighting is subdued can help a shy fish approach its meal. Observe actual intake, particularly when daytime feeders reach the food first, and remove leftovers before they settle out of reach.

Choose companions around the fish’s predatory feeding behaviour and avoid relying on a small purchase size to establish safety for tiny animals. Big-eye naming does not identify a single species. Confirm the supplier identification and expected adult dimensions before selecting the final aquarium or deciding to keep several together.
