ASF NewJet Wave pumps provide circulation within the aquarium rather than lifting return water from a sump. The listed 280 and 530 models correspond to nominal outputs of 280 and 530 US gallons per hour in the manufacturer's catalogue.

Select flow for the animals and aquascape, then position the pump to move water around obstructions without continually lifting substrate or pressing coral tissue in one direction. Several lower-flow positions can behave differently from one concentrated stream.

Keep the intake clear and inspect for small animals before restarting after maintenance. Clean accumulated debris and mineral deposits according to the pump instructions. Assess movement throughout the tank after installation; the flow printed on a pump does not describe how evenly every part of an aquascape will circulate.
