Allen's Damsel

Allen's damsel, Pomacentrus alleni, combines an electric blue body with yellow and dark accents around its fins. It is an active marine damselfish that benefits from an established aquarium with both open water and a network of rock shelters.

Feed small portions of marine omnivore foods, alternating meaty items with algae-based preparations. Distributing food across the swimming area gives this fish opportunities to feed without every resident competing at a single spot. A varied diet should continue even when the fish is grazing around the rockwork.

Plan territories before adding it to a community. Allen's damsels can defend their chosen shelter, particularly against similar fish as they mature. Several hiding places and broken sight lines help, but do not guarantee that a group will remain compatible.
