Choosing Pipefish
Pipefish reward careful feeding and an aquarium planned around their narrow mouths and deliberate hunting. Identify the species before choosing companions: a small reef pipefish and a larger seagrass-associated species can have different habitat and feeding needs.
Arrange a dependable supply of suitably small crustacean foods, including live food where necessary, and verify acceptance of frozen alternatives. Several feeding opportunities and freedom from competition matter more than simply adding food to the tank. Nipping fish, stinging animals and fast feeders can make an otherwise established aquarium unsuitable.
