Red Sea Reef-Spec Carbon 500g

Red Sea REEF-SPEC Carbon is activated carbon for removing dissolved organic compounds and yellowing from aquarium water. The 500 g size provides refill media for an appropriate filter bag, media chamber or reactor.

Its porous granules adsorb substances as water passes through the media. This serves a different purpose from a sponge that traps visible debris, so carbon is best planned as part of the filtration arrangement rather than as a replacement for every other filter stage.

Rinse away fines and prepare the carbon according to Red Sea's directions before use. Avoid packing a media bag so tightly that water cannot move through it, and choose an amount appropriate to the aquarium's volume and purpose. Carbon can remove medication residues, so follow treatment instructions concerning its removal and later replacement during a medication course.
