Pastel Gonipora

Pastel Goniopora offers the flower-like polyp form characteristic of this group of large-polyp stony corals. Its expanded tentacles need an open area around the base, with enough clearance that the colony can move in the current without rubbing against the aquascape.

Moderate initial lighting gives it time to adapt to a new aquarium. Provide changing water movement across the colony rather than a narrow jet into one side. Extended polyps are useful to observe, but a brief opening period alone does not establish that its nutritional needs are being met.

Offer small zooplankton-based coral foods as a supplement to photosynthesis and watch for individual feeding reactions. Avoid relying solely on phytoplankton as its direct food. Consistent care and close attention to tissue condition make this better suited to an experienced keeper than a newly established reef.
