Mix Color Favia Coral

Mix Color Favia Coral is a brain-coral selection with fleshy polyps over a stony foundation. Favia is widely used as a trade grouping for several related-looking corals, so allow for variation in growth form and judge placement from the actual colony's outline.

Low to moderate light and gentle to moderate circulation suit this group as an initial position. Keep sediment from collecting between the polyps, while avoiding a jet that draws tissue tightly against the skeleton. Increase lighting gradually only if the coral's response warrants it.

Small portions of meaty marine food can supplement photosynthesis. Offer pieces the mouths can fully ingest and prevent leftovers collecting on the colony. Leave generous separation from nearby corals: some Favia-type brains extend long sweeper tentacles, and their reach can be greater than the daytime outline suggests.
