The Hanna HI98319 Marine Salinity Tester is a handheld instrument for checking marine-water salinity and temperature. Its conductivity-based measurement uses a graphite sensor and an integrated temperature probe, making it useful for comparing aquarium water with newly mixed saltwater.

The display includes a stability indication so you can wait for a settled reading rather than judging the sample immediately after immersion. Temperature compensation is built into the measurement, but the probe still needs time to respond when moved between samples at different temperatures.

Keep the sensing area clean and calibrate using the solution and procedure specified by Hanna. A maintained tester supports consistent water preparation; it does not mix saltwater or adjust aquarium salinity automatically. Follow the care instructions when rinsing and storing it between checks.
