Green Jewel Gonipora Coral

Green Jewel Goniopora is a flowerpot-type stony coral whose many tentacled polyps can extend well beyond its resting outline. Give it an unobstructed position where the colony can open without contacting neighbouring corals or being repeatedly disturbed by passing livestock.

Use moderate lighting during acclimation and circulation that changes direction over the top of the colony. These corals can tolerate substantial moving water, but contact and persistent local irritation can keep their polyps withdrawn. Assess extension and tissue condition before increasing light or changing placement again.

Very fine zooplankton foods complement its photosynthetic nutrition. Offer small amounts that the individual polyps can capture and avoid using phytoplankton as the only direct feed. Goniopora requires ongoing observation; plan for feeding and stable reef conditions throughout its life rather than judging success by initial expansion.
