Green Gonipora (M)

Green Goniopora is a flowerpot coral with many extended polyps rising from a stony base. Allow space for the whole crown of polyps, not just the skeleton, and keep it clear of rock edges and neighbouring coral tissue. Check the actual specimen dimensions when planning around the M listing.

Begin with moderate light and variable circulation that moves water over the colony. Goniopora can retract quickly when touched, so avoid a location where fish or adjacent corals repeatedly brush against it. Make lighting changes gradually rather than using stronger light to force extension.

Photosynthesis supports this coral, but suitably small zooplankton foods are an important supplement. Observe whether individual polyps capture food and keep portions manageable. This is a coral for an established reef and an aquarist prepared to monitor feeding and long-term tissue condition.
