Gonzo Gonipora

Gonzo Goniopora is a flowerpot coral for an aquarist prepared to maintain both suitable reef conditions and a regular feeding routine. Its name identifies the listed variety, while its many soft polyps need room around the stony base to extend and move freely.

Start with moderate light and give the colony time to adjust before increasing intensity. Flow should move across the expanded polyps and vary through the colony rather than repeatedly pressing it against a neighbour. Persistent closure is a reason to investigate irritation, feeding and conditions, not simply to add more light.

Small zooplankton-based foods can supplement photosynthesis. Look for individual polyps responding to food and use restrained portions that do not leave deposits on the coral. Goniopora can decline after initially appearing settled, making continued observation important even after acclimation.
