Choosing Puffer Fish
Pufferfish are inquisitive feeders with a fused beak, and their adult requirements differ greatly between species. Even smaller marine tobies can eat reef invertebrates, so choose companions with feeding behaviour in mind.
Provide varied suitable foods and, where the species requires them, shelled items that help with tooth wear. Plan filtration for the feeding load and monitor body condition rather than relying on one favourite food. Avoid deliberately startling a puffer into inflating; a container transfer is preferable to entangling it in a net. Check adult size before selecting a juvenile.
