Nets

Choose an aquarium net by its opening, pocket depth and handle reach. The net needs room to contain the intended fish while still moving through the aquarium's access opening and around decorations. A handle that reaches the bottom without awkward stretching makes controlled movement easier.

Mesh texture matters for delicate fins. A soft, deep pocket can help contain a small fish, but no net design suits every animal; fish with prominent spines or easily snagged features may need a different transfer method. Prepare the receiving container before beginning a move.

Move slowly and avoid prolonged chasing through the aquascape. Inspect the mesh for torn areas or rough edges, and rinse and dry the net after use. Keep separate equipment for quarantine or treatment systems to reduce transfer of contamination.
