Choosing Dragonet
Dragonets include Mandarins and the fish often sold as Scooter Blennies. Their feeding behaviour is the first consideration: they search for small animal foods and should not be selected as algae eaters. An established aquarium and a dependable food supply are central to planning for them.
Ask what the individual animal is eating before purchase. Some captive-bred dragonets take prepared foods, while others rely heavily on live prey. A general species description cannot confirm that the available fish accepts pellets or frozen food, and a busy community can make feeding competition difficult.
Compare the species, current size, feeding response, and any confirmed sex or pairing information. Plan how food will reach the fish among the rockwork and how you will observe its condition after introduction. Our team can review your system age, refugium or live-food arrangements, and existing tankmates before you choose a dragonet.
