Choosing Clownfish
Compare clownfish by species as well as their colour pattern. Ocellaris, Percula, Tomato, and other clownfish have different adult sizes and temperaments. A named colour form does not by itself tell you whether it will suit the clownfish already occupying your aquarium.
An anemone is not required to keep clownfish successfully. If you also want an anemone, assess its lighting, aquarium maturity, and care requirements separately, then check whether the combination is appropriate. Do not add a demanding host animal simply because a clownfish is present.
Pairing needs observation and planning. Clownfish can change sex as they mature, and the dominant fish in a pair becomes female. Ask about the size and history of the available fish before adding a companion to an established individual. A listing for one captive-bred fish does not mean that any two available fish are already a bonded pair.
