Green Montipora Coral

Green Montipora Coral is a small-polyp stony coral selection that can suit a well-established mixed or SPS reef. Montipora includes plating, branching and encrusting forms, so assess the current specimen's shape rather than assuming the green label defines its growth habit.

After gradual acclimation, provide suitable bright reef light and moderate to strong water movement. Keep circulation reaching the whole colony and watch for areas where sediment settles as it expands. New plates or branches can change both light exposure and local flow.

Photosynthesis is the main nutritional support, and very fine suspended foods may be an optional supplement. Maintain consistent reef conditions as skeletal growth increases demand on the aquarium. Allow a gap from stinging neighbours, because Montipora can lose tissue when it contacts more aggressive corals.
